Airport · Haifa, Israel
5 km from central Haifa. Live flights, getting to town, car rental and where to stay.
Haifa Airport (Uri Michaeli) lies east of the city, next to the port and the shipyards, and is the oldest international airport in Israel. It is a small regional airport with a single short runway (about 1,300 m) and modest traffic: it handled around 282,000 passengers in 2025, after a very low year before that. It mainly serves those who want to fly from northern Israel without going all the way to Ben Gurion Airport.
There is one small terminal, opened in 1998, with arrivals and departures under the same roof. Everything is within walking distance and formalities are quick.
Scheduled flights are operated by airHaifa: a domestic link to Eilat and international routes to Cyprus, Greece and Bulgaria, some of them seasonal. The offer changes often, so confirm your flight before travelling.
This is a small airport with basic services. Its first duty-free shop, of around 200 m², opened in August 2025. Don’t expect the range of shops, restaurants and lounges of a large airport.
As the schedule is limited and can change, always check times and routes with the airline. On international flights, arrive early because of Israeli security checks. If your trip doesn’t depart from Haifa, Ben Gurion Airport is the alternative, with far more connections.
Taxis wait outside the terminal; agree the fare before getting in, as most are not metered, or confirm the ride-hailing app fare in advance.
