Aktobe International Airport AKX

Aktobe International Airport (AKX), officially named after Aliya Moldagulova since 2021, is about 1.5 km southwest of the centre of Aktobe, in western Kazakhstan. It is a medium-sized regional airport, with more than 900,000 passengers in 2023, linking the region with the country’s main cities and several international destinations. It is used mainly by business travellers and local residents, and is the entry point for anyone visiting the Aktobe region.

Terminals

There is a single small terminal, with five parking stands for commercial aircraft. The runway is long, at more than 3,000 m.

Airlines and destinations

Airlines include Air Astana, SCAT Airlines and FlyArystan, plus foreign carriers such as Azerbaijan Airlines, Pegasus Airlines and Centrum Air. Regular destinations are Almaty, Astana, Baku, Istanbul and Tashkent, and in season there are charter flights to holiday destinations such as Antalya and Sharm El Sheikh. Routes and airlines change frequently, so confirm your flight before travelling.

It is a small terminal with basic services. Bring some cash in tenge in case you need it, and if you need something specific, sort it out in the city before heading to the airport.

Tips

Winters in this area are cold and can affect flights, so leave a margin if you have connections. In holiday season, with charter flights, the terminal can be busier than usual; arrive early to check in.
