Bora Bora, France
Bora Bora, in the Leeward Islands of French Polynesia, is a volcanic island dominated by Mount Otemanu and ringed by a turquoise lagoon and a chain of motus. It is famous for its overwater bungalows and for snorkelling with rays and sharks.
Bora Bora airport is about 6 km from central Bora Bora.
The airport is on an islet and can only be reached by boat. The airlines run a shuttle boat to Vaitape, the main village, timed to the flights (about 15 min).
There are no taxis on the motu. Hotels offer their own boat transfer from the airport; a few taxis wait in Vaitape for onward travel around the island.
