Saint-Barthélemy Rémy de Haenen Airport, in the Saint-Jean district, is famous for its spectacular approach: aircraft skim over the Col de la Tourmente and the runway, about 650 m long, ends at Saint-Jean beach. It is about 2 km from Gustavia.
The airport has a single small terminal by the beach. Only small aircraft and light turboprops can operate here, and pilots need a special qualification. Flights come mainly from Saint Martin, Guadeloupe and other nearby Caribbean islands.
The terminal has car rental desks and a taxi rank; cafés and shops are a short walk away.

Rank outside the terminal. Gustavia is about 5 min away. Many travellers pick up a rental car at the airport itself.
