Bahrain International Airport BAH

Bahrain International Airport (BAH) is on Muharraq Island, next to Muharraq city and a few kilometres from the capital, Manama, which you reach via the Shaikh Isa Causeway. It is the hub of Gulf Air, the national carrier, and handled about 9.35 million passengers in 2024, 7% more than the year before.

Terminals

There is a single passenger terminal, opened on 28 January 2021: a building of about 210,000 m2 with capacity for around 14 million passengers a year. Being a single building, there are no transfers between terminals, and passport control has electronic gates (e-gates).

Airlines and destinations

Gulf Air handles most of the operations, with many flights to other Gulf cities (Dubai, Doha and Riyadh are the most frequent routes), plus destinations in the Middle East, South Asia, Europe and Asia. Other regional, European and Asian airlines complete the picture.

Services

The terminal has shops, restaurants and cafes. Among the lounges, the Falcon Gold lounge is for Gulf Air passengers only, and the Pearl Lounge is open to lounge-programme members or paying guests. Taxis and public buses serve the terminal.

Tips

The airport has no published night curfew, so an early-morning flight is no problem. As it is a large terminal, allow time for the walk to your gate. Arrive about three hours early for international flights, a little more at the evening and weekend peaks.
