About the airport

Venice Marco Polo Airport is in Tessera, on the mainland, about 13 km north of Venice. It is the main airport of the Veneto and one of Italy’s busiest, with full-service and low-cost flights across Europe and to long-haul destinations.

Terminals

It has a single terminal, with arrivals and departures in the same building. It handles full-service and low-cost airlines alike, and the bus area and the boat pier can be reached on foot from it.

Services

The terminal has cafés, restaurants, shops, free wifi and car rental desks. Buses, boats and taxis run to Venice; buses are the quickest and cheapest way to Piazzale Roma.

Getting to the city

  • ATVO

Express buses between the airport and Venice (Piazzale Roma), also stopping at Mestre. About 20-25 min to Piazzale Roma.

  • ACTV

City bus lines, such as the 5, linking the airport with Piazzale Roma and Mestre, at a lower fare than the express.

  • Alilaguna

Boats from the airport's water-bus pier, reached by a covered walkway, to Murano, the Lido and the Saint Mark's area. Slower, from about an hour.

  • Taxi

Road taxis go to Piazzale Roma and Mestre; water taxis reach many points of the lagoon directly, at a much higher price.
