About the airport
Sulaymaniyah International Airport (ORSJ) is one of the main airports of Iraq’s Kurdistan Region. It lies about 14 km west of the city of Sulaymaniyah. Construction began in 2003 and it was inaugurated on 20 July 2005. It handled around 429,000 passengers in 2022, and its 3,500-metre runway can take wide-body aircraft.
Terminals
There is a single two-storey passenger building: arrivals are on the ground floor and departures on the first floor. A separate VIP terminal also exists. There are no terminal transfers to make.
Airlines and destinations
Turkish Airlines, Pegasus, AJet, flydubai, Iraqi Airways and Condor operate here, with flights to Istanbul, Dubai, Baghdad and Düsseldorf, among others. From Europe the usual route is a connection in Istanbul or Dubai, although there is a direct flight to Germany. Routes vary by season, so confirm them with the airline.
