About the airport
Luang Namtha Airport (LXG) is about 6 km south of Luang Namtha town in the far north of Laos, roughly 56 km from the Chinese border. It is a small regional airport that links the area with Vientiane and serves travellers who come to trek, cycle and visit ethnic-minority villages. It saves the long mountain road journey from the south of the country.
Terminals
A single small terminal building. It was renovated between 2006 and 2008, when the runway was extended from 1,200 to 1,600 m and a new terminal of about 700 m² and the control tower were built.
Airlines and destinations
Scheduled service consists of Lao Airlines flights to Vientiane, of about an hour. Lao Skyway has also flown the route. Frequencies are few and may vary by season.

This is a small airport with basic services: do not expect shops, restaurants or lounges as at a large airport.
