Inishmaan, Ireland
Inishmaan is the middle island of the three Aran Islands, in Galway Bay, and the least visited. It has a landscape of stone walls and rocky fields, prehistoric forts and a strong Irish-language tradition; the writer J. M. Synge spent long stays here.
Inishmaan airport is about 1 km from central Inishmaan.
The island has minibus tours; it is a quiet island that is also easy to explore on foot or by bicycle.
Ferries reach the island's pier from Rossaveal, near Galway, and from Doolin, in County Clare. They are the usual alternative to flying.
