About the airport

Techo International Airport, south of Phnom Penh, opened on 9 September 2025 and replaced the old Phnom Penh International Airport (PNH), which had served for more than six decades. It covers about 2,600 hectares across Kandal and Takeo provinces, and its first phase is designed for around 13 million passengers a year, with expansions planned. It is the country’s main airport and the base of the Cambodian airlines.

Terminals

There is a single large terminal, designed by Foster + Partners, with lots of natural light and greenery inside. With one terminal there are no internal transfers, but expect long walks to the gates.

Airlines and destinations

Air Cambodia, Cambodia Airways and Sky Angkor operate here, along with several international airlines that moved from the old airport, such as Vietnam Airlines, Thai Airways, Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines and Qatar Airways. Regional Asian routes dominate (Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Singapore, Hong Kong), with some long-haul connections via Doha.

Services

The terminal is modern, with shops and food outlets run by Lagardère Travel Retail, and waiting areas. It opened recently, so some outlets may still be opening.

Tips

If you use old guides, maps or bookings, check they point to Techo (KTI) and not the old airport (PNH), which no longer handles commercial flights. It is on the outskirts: allow plenty of time for the trip from Phnom Penh, especially at rush hour, and arrive about 3 hours ahead for international flights.
