Airport · Siem Reap, Cambodia
15 km from central Siem Reap. Live flights, getting to town, car rental and where to stay.
Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport (SAI) opened on 16 October 2023 and replaced the city’s old airport (REP), closed to commercial flights to reduce traffic and pollution near the Angkor temples. It is in Soutr Nikom district, about 50 km east of Siem Reap, much farther than the old one. Its initial capacity is around 7 million passengers a year, with expansions planned.
There is a single modern terminal with boarding bridges (about 15) and a runway of more than 3,600 m that can take wide-body aircraft. With one terminal, there are no transfers between buildings.
Regional airlines such as AirAsia, Bangkok Airways, Cambodia Angkor Air, Lao Airlines, Singapore Airlines and Vietnam Airlines operate here, with flights to Bangkok, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, among others. There are also many flights from China and other parts of Asia, and domestic connections to Phnom Penh. Routes change often, so check yours.
The terminal is new and has shops, cafes and waiting areas. Bring some cash for the trip into town.
Distance is what matters: the trip into town is long, so allow plenty of time, especially for an early flight, and confirm your transfer with your accommodation before arriving. If you find old information or bookings with the code REP, they no longer apply: the current airport is SAI.
Hotel shuttles and airport taxis are the main way to reach Siem Reap town and the Angkor temples.
Taxis and tuk-tuks wait outside the terminal for the ride into town.
A single modern terminal built to handle the steady flow of visitors to Angkor Wat.
