Cox's Bazar Airport CXB

Cox’s Bazar Airport (CXB) is a few kilometres from the town of Cox’s Bazar, the tourist capital of Bangladesh’s southeast coast, famous for its extremely long beach. It began as a British base in the Second World War and is now the main gateway for visitors to the coast. Its runway, about 3,260 m (10,700 ft) and partly reclaimed from the sea, is among the longest in the country.

There is a single terminal, with arrivals and departures in the same building.

Airlines and destinations

Four domestic carriers operate: Biman Bangladesh Airlines, US-Bangla, Novoair and Air Astra. The main routes are Dhaka and Chittagong, with flights also to Sylhet, Jashore, Rajshahi and Saidpur. The airport was declared international in October 2025, but according to the sources we consulted that status was suspended a few days later because airlines showed no interest. If you see international flights advertised, check them before booking.

Services

Services are basic. Do not expect lounges or large shopping areas; you will usually find just the essentials for waiting. Hotels, restaurants and shops are in town.

Tips

This is a beach destination, and in the winter high season and on holidays flights from Dhaka fill up, so book ahead. Get to the airport at least an hour early. Agree the taxi fare or use an app before getting in.
