About the airport
Shah Makhdum Airport is in Nowhata, about 10 km north of Rajshahi, in northwestern Bangladesh. It is a regional airport with domestic flights and a single 1,829 m runway. In November 2024 the authorities announced plans to turn it into an international airport, but for now there are no flights abroad.
Terminals
There is one small terminal, with arrivals and departures in the same building. Expansion works are under way, so some areas may be under renovation.
Airlines and destinations
Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Novoair and US-Bangla Airlines operate here. The main destination is Dhaka. Novoair also links Rajshahi with Cox’s Bazar: in 2022 it became the first airline in the country to fly an intercity route that does not go through Dhaka.
