About the airport
Saidpur Airport is in Nilphamari District, in northern Bangladesh, and is the air gateway to the Rangpur division. It opened in 1979 as a domestic airport and remains domestic-only, with a runway of about 1,800 m. Between January 2018 and January 2019 it handled about 313,000 passengers.
Terminals
There is one small terminal, with arrivals and departures in the same building. There are plans to lengthen the runway and make the airport international (with flights to Nepal), but today it only has flights within Bangladesh.
Airlines and destinations
Air Astra, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Novoair and US-Bangla Airlines operate here, mostly with ATR 72 and Dash 8-400 turboprops. The main route is Dhaka, with many flights a day; there are also flights to Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar.
Services
Services are basic: do not expect lounges or many shops. Bring cash in takas.
Tips
One hour before a domestic flight is enough. Because the airport is small and frequencies change, confirm your flight with the airline shortly before you travel.
Getting to the city
Taxi
Taxis and ride-hailing apps wait outside the terminal; agree the fare or confirm the meter before setting off.
