About the airport
Shiraz Shahid Dastghaib Airport (SYZ) is the main airport of Fars province in southern Iran and serves Shiraz, the gateway to Persepolis and Pasargadae. It sits at about 1,500 metres above sea level and has two parallel runways. Around 3.5 million passengers passed through in 2017, making it one of the busiest airports in the country.

Airlines and destinations
Many Iranian airlines operate here, including Iran Air and Mahan Air, with flights to Tehran and the country’s main cities. Internationally there are routes to the Gulf, such as Dubai, Doha and Muscat.

If you plan to visit Persepolis, Shiraz is the usual base and this airport is the easiest way in from Tehran or the Gulf. International schedules change often, so confirm your flight with the airline. Foreign bank cards generally do not work in Iran, so carry cash.
