Airport · Tabriz, Iran
8 km from central Tabriz. Live flights, getting to town, car rental and where to stay.
Tabriz Shahid Madani Airport (TBZ) serves Tabriz, the main city of north-western Iran and capital of East Azerbaijan province. It lies at about 1,360 metres above sea level and has two parallel runways, one of them shared with a military air base. It handled almost 1.9 million passengers in 2017.
The airport has a single passenger terminal that handles both domestic and international flights.
More than twenty airlines run scheduled services; ATA Airlines and Iran Airtour are based here. The main destinations are Tehran, Mashhad and Isfahan, and there are some international routes, such as Dubai or Baku, plus seasonal pilgrimage flights.
The airport was damaged in the June 2025 strikes and closed for about three weeks; it reopened in early July 2025 for domestic and international flights. Even so, check the status of your flight before you set off. Foreign bank cards generally do not work in Iran, so carry cash.
A shuttle or public bus connects the airport with the centre of Tabriz, timed around flights.
Taxis wait outside the terminal; agree the fare before getting in, as most are not metered.
A single passenger terminal, with arrivals and departures in the same building, with shops and places to eat. It handles mainly domestic flights, with some international routes.
