Dezful Airport DEF

Dezful Airport (DEF) is on the Andimeshk road in the city of Dezful, in Khuzestan province in south-western Iran. It is a civil and military airport: it is also Vahdati Air Base, run by the Iranian Air Force. It has two runways of more than 3,500 metres. It is the way to reach Dezful and this part of northern Khuzestan from Tehran or Mashhad.

Terminals

There is a single terminal, with arrivals and departures in the same building. There are no transfers between terminals: you arrive, check in and board in the same place.

Airlines and destinations

According to Wikipedia, Iran Air, Mahan Air, Qeshm Air and Karun Airlines fly to Tehran-Mehrabad, and Karun Airlines also flies to Mashhad. All routes are domestic.

Services

We found no detailed official information about the airport’s services, so don’t count on a wide choice of shops, restaurants or lounges. The sensible approach is to eat and sort out accommodation in town before or after your flight, and to bring with you whatever you may need while you wait.

Tips

Flights are few, so a schedule change or a cancellation weighs heavily on your plans. Confirm your flight directly with the airline shortly before leaving and arrive with enough time to check in and clear security. The airport shares its facilities with military aviation, so follow staff instructions and avoid photographing the premises.
