Airport · Isfahan, Iran
21 km from central Isfahan. Live flights, getting to town, car rental and where to stay.
Isfahan Shahid Beheshti International Airport (IFN) lies about 18 kilometres east of the city, in a desert area at roughly 1,540 metres above sea level. It serves one of Iran’s most visited cities and is a medium-sized airport: it handled about 2.8 million passengers in 2017. It is a base for several Iranian airlines, with domestic routes and some regional ones. A military air base sits next to the terminal, as at several of Iran’s major airports.
According to Wikipedia, the airport has two terminals, one for domestic flights and one for international. Check your ticket or ask your airline which one you need before you go.
Most traffic is domestic, with Iran Air, Karun Airlines, Pars Air and Qeshm Air among the carriers present, and Iran Aseman having been based here. Routes link Isfahan with Tehran and other major Iranian cities, plus a few connections to neighbouring countries. The route map changes often, so check the current timetable.
Facilities are those of a large regional airport, with shops and places to eat according to the airport’s listing. Even so, for hotels, restaurants and shopping it is usually best to wait until you reach the city.
Because the airport is some way from the centre, include the journey in your planning when you set your departure time. If you arrive at night or have an early flight, arrange your transfer in advance. Avoid photographing the neighbouring military area.
A shuttle or public bus connects the airport with the centre of Isfahan, timed around flights.
Taxis wait outside the terminal; agree the fare before getting in, as most are not metered.
A single passenger terminal, with arrivals and departures in the same building, with shops and places to eat. It handles mainly domestic flights, with some international routes.
