Abadan Ayatollah Jami International Airport ABD

Abadan Ayatollah Jami International Airport (ABD) is about 12 kilometres from the city of Abadan, in south-western Iran. It is a regional airport with domestic flights: in 2017 it handled about 645,000 passengers. It has two asphalt runways, one of them over 3,000 metres long, and a notable history: during the Second World War it was an important logistics centre where Lend-Lease aircraft bound for the Soviet Union were assembled.

Terminals

There is a single terminal, with arrivals and departures under the same roof, so there are no transfers between buildings.

Airlines and destinations

Several Iranian airlines operate here, with flights to Tehran (Mehrabad), Mashhad and Isfahan. There is no regular international network that we can confirm, so expect domestic connections.

Tips

Schedules at Iranian airports change often: confirm your flight with the airline before heading to the airport. I could not verify the terminal’s specific services, so it is wise to bring water and some cash in rials.
