Airport · Yazd, Iran
8 km from central Yazd. Live flights, getting to town, car rental and where to stay.
Shahid Sadooghi Airport (AZD) is about 10 kilometres from the centre of Yazd, in central Iran. It opened in 1970 and is the airport for one of the country’s most visited historic cities, a place of mud-brick and windcatchers listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In 2017 it handled about 764,000 passengers. It has a runway of over 4,000 metres.
There is a single passenger terminal, with arrivals and departures in the same building, so there are no transfers between terminals.
Iran Air, Mahan Air and Yazd Airways operate here, mainly on domestic flights. During the Hajj season there are regular international flights to Jeddah and Medina in Saudi Arabia.
If you are coming as a tourist, the airport is a convenient gateway to Yazd’s old town, a few kilometres away. Schedules change often, so confirm your flight with the airline before going. I could not verify the terminal’s specific services, so it is wise to bring water and some cash in rials.
A shuttle or public bus connects the airport with the centre of Yazd, timed around flights.
Taxis wait outside the terminal; agree the fare before getting in, as most are not metered.
A single passenger terminal, with arrivals and departures in the same building, with shops and places to eat. It handles mainly domestic flights, with some international routes.
