Rafsanjan Airport is in the city of Rafsanjan, in Kerman Province in south-central Iran, an area famous for its pistachios. It is a small regional airport at about 1,600 m above sea level, with a runway of about 3 km and very light traffic. It is used mainly by business travellers, families visiting the region and people who want to avoid the long road journey to Tehran.
There is one small terminal, with arrivals and departures in the same building.
Flights are domestic and the main route is Tehran-Mehrabad, with Iranian airlines such as Asa Jet and Varesh Airlines. Frequencies are low and can change from one season to the next.
Facilities are basic. Do not count on lounges or a wide commercial offer, and leave shopping, food and accommodation for the city.
With so few flights, confirm your booking with the airline before heading to the airport. If you are visiting the Kerman area, check whether it makes sense to fly to Kerman city and continue by road. Agree the taxi fare before getting in.
Taxis wait outside the terminal, or can be booked in advance; agree the fare before getting in, as most are not metered.
A single, small terminal building, with arrivals and departures under the same roof. It is a small regional airport with limited scheduled domestic flights.
