Khorram Abad Airport KHD

Khorram Abad Airport (KHD) serves Khorramabad, capital of Lorestan Province in western Iran, at about 1,150 metres above sea level. It is a small regional airport, publicly owned and run by the state airports company, with a single 3,600-metre runway. Its role is to link the city with Tehran, and also with Mashhad, avoiding long road journeys. It is used mostly by local travellers and by visitors to Lorestan and its historic sights, such as Falak-ol-Aflak Castle.

Terminals

There is a single small terminal, with arrivals and departures under the same roof. There are no transfers between terminals.

Airlines and destinations

According to the sources we checked, Iran Air, Mahan Air and Chabahar Airlines fly to Tehran-Mehrabad, and Caspian Airlines flies to Mashhad. Chabahar Airlines began operating here in November 2023. Flights are few and routes change.

Services

Facilities are basic. Hotels, restaurants and shops are in the city, not at the airport.

Tips

Confirm the timetable with the airline before you leave, as with so few frequencies a flight change has a big impact. If you are visiting Lorestan as a tourist, think about how much margin you need to connect with the route you have planned.
