Jaisalmer Airport JSA

Jaisalmer Airport is about 12 km from the town, in the heart of the Thar Desert in western Rajasthan. It is a civil enclave inside an Indian Air Force base, with a runway of around 2,700 m. It was closed to civil flights for a few years and reopened in 2017 under the UDAN regional connectivity scheme. Most users are tourists visiting the fort, the golden city and the Sam dunes. About 243,000 passengers used it in the 2025-26 fiscal year, double the previous year.

Terminals

There is one terminal, built by the Airports Authority of India and completed in 2013, with departures and arrivals in the same building. The apron has room for three Airbus A321s, and there are no internal transfers.

Airlines and destinations

According to the latest data, Air India, Alliance Air, IndiGo and SpiceJet operate here, with domestic flights to Delhi, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Mumbai, plus seasonal routes such as Bengaluru. There are no international flights.

Tips

This is a winter tourism destination: the flight offer is broader in the high season, roughly October to March, and some routes are seasonal only. Book early and check that your route operates on your dates. Because the base is shared with the military, access and security checks can be somewhat stricter than usual.
