Aurangabad Airport IXU

Aurangabad Airport is in Chikalthana, about 5.5 km east of the centre of Aurangabad (Maharashtra) and about 11 km from the railway station, along the Aurangabad-Nagpur highway. It is run by the Airports Authority of India. In December 2025 the Indian government issued an order renaming it Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Airport, although the change remains under review; the city is also known by that name today. About 628,000 passengers used it in the 2025-26 fiscal year.

Terminals

There is a single terminal of about 190,000 square feet (around 17,600 m²), with two aerobridges. It is mainly a domestic airport, with limited international operations.

Airlines and destinations

IndiGo, Air India and Air India Express operate here, with flights to Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Goa.

Tips

It is the usual airport for visiting the Ajanta and Ellora caves, both a reasonable road trip from the city, so it is worth booking your transfer or car in advance. If your flight lands late, have your transport into the city arranged. Check the airport name when booking, because it may appear as Aurangabad or Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
