About the airport
Raja Bhoj Airport (BHO) is in Gandhi Nagar, about 15 km from the centre of Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh. It is a mid-sized airport with a solid domestic network and some international flights: around 1.6 million passengers between April 2025 and March 2026.
Terminals
A single integrated terminal, opened in 2011, with departures and arrivals in the same building and boarding bridges. There are no transfers or changes of terminal.
Airlines and destinations
Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet and Air India Express operate here, with connections to Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, among other cities. Internationally, the airport was notified as a customs airport in March 2024 and there are flights to Sharjah; in season, Hajj pilgrim flights to Jeddah also leave from here.
Services
There are cafés, shops and the usual services of a terminal this size. It is not an airport with big shopping areas: if you have plenty of time, it is best to eat before leaving the city.
Tips
The airport has a Category II instrument landing system, useful in fog or bad weather, but delays can still happen. Allow around two hours on domestic flights, and a little more for international departures because of emigration procedures.
