About the airport
Lengpui Airport is about 32 km north of Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, in Mamit district. It opened in 1998 and was the first airport in India built by a state government. It is a small airport: around 429,000 passengers between April 2025 and March 2026.

There is a single terminal, with arrivals and departures in the same building. Renovation works on the terminal and the access road are under way.

The runway sits on an artificial plateau in mountainous terrain and has a Category I ILS for low visibility, but fog and bad weather can cause delays or diversions, especially in the rainy season. Allow a generous margin. The road from the city is a long mountain drive, so leave early and don’t schedule tight connections on the same day.
