About the airport
Sri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport is in Raja Sansi, about 11 km northwest of central Amritsar, in Punjab. It is the main airport of the region and handled around 2.9 million passengers between April 2025 and March 2026, 17% fewer than the previous year. It is a focus city for Air India and Alliance Air and an operating base for IndiGo.
Terminals
There is a single integrated terminal of about 40,000 m², with four jet bridges, check-in counters and its own immigration and customs areas for international flights. Domestic and international flights share the building, so there are no transfers between terminals.
Airlines and destinations
Air India, IndiGo and Air India Express operate here, along with Qatar Airways and Scoot. There are domestic flights to Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata, and international ones to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Singapore, Birmingham and London Gatwick.
Tips
On international flights arrive about three hours ahead, as immigration and security can queue up when several departures coincide. For domestic flights two hours usually suffice. With a single terminal everything is close, but don’t expect the retail offer of a major airport.
