About the airport
Surat International Airport is in Magdalla, about 12 km from the city centre, in Gujarat. Surat is a major textile and diamond-cutting centre, and its airport has grown quickly: around 1.8 million passengers between April 2025 and March 2026, up from about 1.7 million the previous year. It gained customs airport status in 2018, and in December 2023 the central government approved full international status.
Terminals
There is a single terminal, expanded and inaugurated in December 2023. It is designed for about 1,800 passengers at peak hours, with 20 check-in counters, 26 immigration counters and five aerobridges, and was built with environmental efficiency in mind. Arrivals and departures share the building. The runway is 2,905 m long, has an instrument landing system and allows night operations.
Airlines and destinations
Three airlines operate at Surat. Air India Express flies to Delhi, Bengaluru, Goa, Hyderabad, and to Dubai and Sharjah. IndiGo serves nine destinations, including Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai and Dubai. Star Air links Jamnagar and Mundra. International flights are limited to the United Arab Emirates.
