About the airport

Despite the name, Chandigarh Airport is not in Chandigarh but in Jhiurheri, in the Mohali district of Punjab, right on the edge of the city. It is a civil enclave inside an Indian Air Force base and serves Chandigarh, the states of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, and the hill towns of the north. In the 2025-26 fiscal year it handled about 3.9 million passengers.

Terminals

There is one terminal, opened in October 2015, of about 53,000 m² and with five boarding bridges. Arrivals and departures share the building, so there is no changing terminals. Since 2019 the extended runway has allowed 24-hour operations.

Airlines and destinations

IndiGo has a major presence here, alongside Air India, Air India Express and other carriers. There are around twenty destinations, mostly domestic, plus some international flights to the United Arab Emirates (Dubai, Sharjah or Abu Dhabi, depending on the season).

Tips

Before you leave, check whether your terminal or gate has changed, and keep your ID at hand for the access control. In winter, fog can cause delays in northern India: leave a margin if you have a connection.
