About the airport
Maharshi Valmiki Airport, in Ayodhya (formerly Faizabad), Uttar Pradesh, was inaugurated on 30 December 2023 and has had commercial flights since 10 January 2024. It is aimed at pilgrims and visitors to Ayodhya. It is a small airport with growing traffic: around 1.1 million passengers in fiscal 2024-25, although the figure fell by 17% in 2025-26.
Terminals
There is a single terminal, with a capacity of roughly one million passengers a year and about 300 at peak hour. Its decor draws on local culture, with Madhubani and Pattachitra style artwork depicting scenes from the Ramayana.
