About the airport
Shravasti Airport (VSV) is in the Shravasti district of northern Uttar Pradesh and also serves the Balrampur and Bahraich areas. It opened in March 2024 under the UDAN regional connectivity scheme and is a very small airport with minimal activity: official statistics show only a few dozen passengers a month in late 2024. Its purpose is to bring travellers and pilgrims closer to Shravasti, a historic site closely tied to Buddhism.
Terminals
There is a single small terminal, next to the control tower, the fire station and an apron with room for two aircraft. The runway is about 1,500 metres long, built for regional aircraft. With just one building, there are no transfers between terminals.
Airlines and destinations
The service launched under UDAN is the flight to Lucknow, the state capital. Extensions to Delhi, Varanasi, Prayagraj and Kanpur have been announced, but services have been very sparse, so don’t assume there is a flight on the day you need one.
