Hindon Airport HDO

Hindon Airport (VIDX) is in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, about 20 km from Connaught Place in central New Delhi and about 33 km from Indira Gandhi International Airport. It is a civil enclave inside Hindan Air Force Station, owned by the Indian Air Force and run by the Airports Authority of India. Traffic has grown sharply: from around 84,000 passengers in 2024-25 to over 1.1 million in 2025-26.

Terminals

There is one air-conditioned, pre-engineered terminal of about 5,400 m², with eight check-in counters and room for around 300 passengers per hour. It is small for current passenger numbers, and parking is for about 90 vehicles.

Airlines and destinations

IndiGo flies to Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Navi Mumbai and Varanasi, among others. Star Air covers regional destinations such as Adampur, Kishangarh, Nanded and Mundra. All flights are domestic.

Services

Services are limited. Expect modest facilities and do not count on shops or financial services inside the terminal.

Tips

Hindon is an alternative to Delhi’s airport if you live or are staying in Ghaziabad, Noida or east Delhi, where it can save a lot of travel time. The airport has infrastructure limits (only two aircraft parking bays) and no Air Force permission for night landings, so do not count on late-night flights. With a small terminal and a military base next door, arrive early and carry photo ID.
