Moradabad Airport MZS

Moradabad Airport (MZS) serves Moradabad, a city in Uttar Pradesh known for its brassware. It lies beside National Highway 9, between Moradabad and Rampur: about 19 km from Moradabad railway station and about 15 km from Rampur’s. It is a government airstrip rehabilitated under the UDAN regional connectivity scheme: Prime Minister Modi inaugurated it on 10 March 2024, and its first commercial flight left on 10 August 2024.

Terminals

There is a single small terminal, of about 1,250 m², with four check-in counters and seating for about 50 people. The runway is 2,112 m long. Everything is in the same building, so there are no transfers.

Airlines and destinations

The service was a route to Lucknow operated by FlyBig, on a 19-seat aircraft. At the end of 2025 the government listed Moradabad among the UDAN airports temporarily without operations, and several media outlets report that no commercial flights are running. Before planning anything, check with the airline whether any route is active on your date.

Services

The airport is very basic. It has no instrument landing system (ILS) or its own fuel station, and there is no range of services comparable to a commercial airport. For food, currency exchange or accommodation, you will need to sort things out in Moradabad.

Tips

The airport’s main problem is visibility: without an ILS, winter fog or pollution can delay or cancel flights. If you have a booking, confirm it with the airline shortly before leaving and have an alternative by road or rail towards Lucknow or Delhi.
