Mysore Airport (MYQ), also called Mandakalli Airport, serves Mysuru (Mysore), the palace city and one of Karnataka’s main tourist stops. It is in the village of Mandakalli, about 8 km south of the city. It is a small regional airport owned by the Airports Authority of India, with a 1,740 m runway and modest figures: about 92,000 passengers between April 2025 and March 2026, slightly fewer than the previous year.
There is a single small terminal, able to hold about 200 passengers at a time. It is a simple building with no transfers or confusion: everything is in one place and procedures are usually quick.
Service is limited and changes over the years. According to the sources consulted, the airline operating now is IndiGo, with flights to Chennai and Hyderabad. Alliance Air previously flew to other southern cities, so check what is available on your date before planning your trip.
Do not expect the services of a big airport: it is a small airport used mainly for domestic travel. For any specific need (food, currency exchange), the safest option is to sort it out in Mysuru before you go.
For many travellers, Mysuru is easier to reach from Bengaluru, whose large airport has far more flights, by road or train; Mandakalli is useful if you find a direct flight from your city or want to avoid that journey. With few flights a day, arrive in good time but without large margins: about two hours before a domestic flight is enough. Always check that your flight has not changed schedule.
Prepaid taxi counters are often available inside the terminal, or ride-hailing apps can be used outside; agree the fare in advance if not metered.
A shuttle or public bus connects the airport with the centre of Mysore, timed around flights.
A single passenger terminal, with arrivals and departures in the same building, with shops and places to eat. It handles mainly domestic flights, with some international routes.
