About the airport
Calicut Airport (CCJ), also known as Kozhikode, is in Karipur, in Malappuram district, about 28 km from the city of Kozhikode. It opened in 1988, has been international since 2006 and is a base for Air India Express. It handled around 3.9 million passengers between April 2025 and March 2026, mostly on routes to the Gulf.

Airlines and destinations
Air India Express flies to many Gulf destinations, such as Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Bahrain, as well as Indian cities. Saudia connects to Jeddah and Riyadh. It is an airport closely tied to the travel of Keralite workers and families to the Gulf countries.
Services
There are cafés, shops and airline information, and since September 2025 the FTI-TTP trusted traveller programme has operated to speed up immigration for eligible passengers. Do not expect a wide commercial offer.
Tips
The runway is a “tabletop” type, 2,860 m long, and in August 2020 an Air India Express aircraft overran it when landing in bad weather. In the rainy season delays are possible, so do not schedule tight connections. Allow extra time on international departures.
