Pune International Airport PNQ

Pune International Airport is in Lohegaon, about 11 km northeast of central Pune, in Maharashtra. It operates as a civil enclave within Lohegaon Air Force Station, so it shares its single runway of about 2,540 metres with the Indian Air Force. By Indian standards it is a large airport: around 10.5 million passengers in the 2024-25 financial year, up 9.8% on the year before. Most traffic is domestic, with a small number of international routes.

Terminals

There is a new terminal of about 52,000 m², inaugurated in March 2024 and in operation since July 2024, with five aerobridges and capacity for more than 9 million passengers a year. As it is the building used for flights, you will not need to change terminal.

Airlines and destinations

IndiGo, Air India, Air India Express, SpiceJet and Akasa Air operate here. Domestic flights link Pune with Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and other major cities; international destinations include Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bangkok and Singapore. It is the main air gateway to Pune and its industrial and university region.

The new terminal offers shops and food areas, plus the usual services of an airport of this size. Specific details (which outlets are open, lounges) change often, so check the airport or airline website.

Tips

Because it shares its runway with the air base, the airport has operational constraints that can affect schedules: check your flight before setting out. For domestic flights, arrive about two hours ahead and allow extra time for the journey from the city, as Pune traffic is heavy at peak hours.
