Kolhapur Airport KLH

Kolhapur Airport, officially Chhatrapati Rajaram Maharaj Airport, is in Ujlaiwadi, about 9 km southeast of the city in western Maharashtra. It operated from 1987, closed in 2010 over runway safety concerns, and received commercial flights again in 2018 under the UDAN scheme. It serves Kolhapur and southern Maharashtra, an area of pilgrimage, industry and students. About 172,000 passengers used it in the 2025-26 fiscal year.

Terminals

There is one new terminal: it was inaugurated in March 2024 and entered service at the end of that month. It covers about 3,900 m², with ten check-in counters and capacity for around 300 passengers in the peak hour. Departures and arrivals are in the same building.

Airlines and destinations

According to the latest data, IndiGo flies to Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Navi Mumbai, and Star Air to Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru. All flights are domestic. The runway, about 1,930 m long, takes aircraft such as the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320, and night landing has been available since 2021.

Tips

It is a small airport with few flights, so check the schedule and avoid tight connections. Domestic flights in India call for arriving about two hours ahead. Note that one of the flights may land at Navi Mumbai rather than Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji airport, so check which one you arrive at if you are connecting.
