Bir Tikendrajit International Airport IMF

Bir Tikendrajit International Airport is in Tulihal, about 7 km south of central Imphal, the capital of Manipur. It is owned by the Government of Manipur and managed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). It is the state’s main air gateway: in 2025-26 it handled about 1.37 million passengers, 2.8% fewer than the previous year.

Terminals

There is a single terminal. A new integrated building of about 28,000 m² is under development, designed for 1,200 passengers at peak hour with four boarding bridges, so the layout may change. The runway is about 2,750 m.

Airlines and destinations

Air India Express, Alliance Air and IndiGo operate, with flights to Delhi, Guwahati, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Agartala. The busiest routes are Guwahati and Kolkata. Despite its name, the destinations we could confirm are domestic.

Services

This is a small to mid-sized regional airport. We could not confirm the exact offer of shops, currency exchange or lounges, so do not count on them and carry cash and the basics.

Tips

Imphal is the usual entry point to Manipur and its surroundings, and road alternatives are long, so flying is the practical option. At 7 km from the city, the transfer is short. Check your flight times, as aircraft movements have declined.
