Kullu-Manali Airport is in Bhuntar, about 11 km from Kullu and about 52 km from Manali in Himachal Pradesh. It is the air gateway to the Kullu valley and Manali, one of India’s most visited mountain destinations. It sits in a deep valley with a single short runway of about 1,125 m and mountains rising far above it. That makes it a delicate airport to operate, with little traffic: about 20,600 passengers in the 2025-26 fiscal year, 30% fewer than the year before.
