Jorhat Airport JRH

Jorhat Airport is in Rowriah, about 7 km southwest of the town in eastern Assam. It opened in the early 1950s and has mixed use: it shares its runway with Jorhat Air Force Station, the Indian Air Force’s first air base in the east of the country. It is the gateway to the tea country of Upper Assam and one of the ways in to Majuli, the large river island on the Brahmaputra, and to the Kaziranga region. About 158,000 passengers used it in the 2025-26 fiscal year.

Terminals

There is one terminal for civil flights, with departures and arrivals in the same building, so there are no internal transfers.

Airlines and destinations

The main carrier is IndiGo, with domestic flights to Delhi and Kolkata and, depending on the season, Bengaluru. There are no international flights. With such limited choice, check schedules in advance and avoid tight connections.

Tips

Allow extra time if you are heading to Majuli: the journey involves a road leg and a ferry, and it is best not to rely on a single departure time. Military operations can affect civil schedules, and delays are possible in the monsoon and in winter fog.
