Tezpur Airport TEZ

Tezpur Airport, also known as Salonibari, lies about 8.5 km from the centre of Tezpur in the Indian state of Assam. It is both an Indian Air Force base and a civil airport for regional use under the UDAN regional connectivity scheme. Commercial traffic is very limited and has been irregular: official statistics for April 2025 to March 2026 show no passengers, and a long closure for works was reported in 2024. Before planning your trip, check with the airline that flights are actually operating.

Terminals

There is a single small terminal, with arrivals and departures in the same building. The runway is long for the region because it began as a military airstrip in 1942, but the civil apron is modest.

Airlines and destinations

The airline listed with scheduled service here is Alliance Air, with routes to other cities in north-east India such as Guwahati, Shillong, Pasighat or Lilabari, and a link to Kolkata.

Services

Expect basic facilities, typical of a small airport shared with the military. Do not count on a wide choice of shops, food outlets or lounges.

Tips

As this is a military installation, security checks can be stricter. If your flight is not operating, the usual alternative is Guwahati airport, Assam’s main gateway, from where Tezpur is reached by road.
