Jharsuguda Airport JRG

Jharsuguda Airport, officially Veer Surendra Sai Airport, is in Durlaga, about 5 km northeast of the town in western Odisha. It started life as an Allied airstrip in the Second World War and opened to commercial flights in September 2018, making it Odisha’s second commercial airport after Bhubaneswar. It serves Jharsuguda and its industrial and mining surroundings, and is used mostly by business travellers and people visiting family. About 440,000 passengers used it in the 2025-26 fiscal year.

Terminals

There is a single terminal of roughly 5,500 m², with departures and arrivals under one roof. There is no changing buildings or internal transfers: everything happens on one short walk.

Airlines and destinations

All flights are domestic. According to the latest data, IndiGo flies to Bengaluru, Delhi and Kolkata, and Star Air to Bhubaneswar. Routes and frequencies change often at regional airports in India, so confirm your flight before planning the rest of your trip.

Tips

It is a small, quiet airport, but domestic flights in India call for plenty of time: arriving about two hours before departure is a sensible rule. If you are connecting to a long-haul flight in Delhi, Bengaluru or Kolkata, leave a generous margin, since with only a few daily flights a cancellation is hard to rebook.
