About the airport
Swami Vivekananda Airport, formerly called Mana, is about 15 km southeast of Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, and about 10 km east of Naya Raipur, the state’s new administrative city. It is the busiest airport in Chhattisgarh and the second busiest in Central India after Indore, with around 2.6 million passengers between April 2024 and March 2025. It was renamed in 2012 after the philosopher Swami Vivekananda, who spent part of his youth in Raipur.
Terminals
There is a single integrated terminal, opened in November 2012, of about 22,000 m², with three jet bridges, eight boarding gates and twenty check-in counters. Arrivals and departures share the building, so there is no changing terminals. A separate domestic cargo terminal opened in 2016.
Airlines and destinations
Most traffic is domestic. IndiGo has the widest network and Air India adds more options; between them they link Raipur with Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and other major Indian cities.
Tips
The runway, 3,250 m long after a 965 m extension in August 2024, handles night operations and has a Category II instrument landing system, which helps in fog. Even so, check your flight time before heading to the airport and arrive with some margin, especially for morning departures.
