About the airport

Goa Dabolim Airport (VOGO), usually called Dabolim, is in South Goa, about 4 km from Vasco da Gama and some 30 km from Panaji, the state capital. It is a civil enclave inside the Indian Navy’s INS Hansa air base and is run by the Airports Authority of India. It was Goa’s only airport until Manohar Airport (Mopa) opened in the north in January 2023. In the 2024-25 financial year it handled around 7.2 million passengers, a figure that has fallen since the new airport opened.

Terminals

There is one integrated terminal, opened in December 2013, which handles domestic and international flights in the same building.

Airlines and destinations

The main carriers are IndiGo and Air India Express, along with Air India and other Indian airlines, flying to the country’s big cities. There are also some international links, such as Bahrain with Gulf Air, and plenty of charter flights in high season.

Services

The terminal has shops and places to eat. Services are those of a large tourist airport, although it can feel crowded at peak times in high season.

Tips

Before booking, check which Goa airport your flight uses: Dabolim is in the south and Mopa in the north, and the road distance between them is long, so choosing wrongly can add hours to your journey. Dabolim is the better choice if you are staying in South Goa or Panaji. Because it shares its runway with the Navy, military activity can limit some flight times; trust the schedule on your ticket and allow extra time in the winter high season.
