Deoghar Airport DGH

Deoghar Airport (DGH) is in the state of Jharkhand, about 12 km from the city. It opened in July 2022 and is the air gateway to Deoghar, best known for the Baidyanath temple, one of the country’s major pilgrimage destinations. It is a small regional airport: between April 2025 and March 2026 it handled around 385,000 passengers.

Terminals

There is a single terminal of about 4,000 m², with arrivals and departures under one roof. Its design draws on the architecture of the Baidyanath temple. It has six check-in counters and two baggage belts, so there is nothing to walk through: everything is a few steps away.

Airlines and destinations

The airport is served mainly by IndiGo, with domestic flights to Bengaluru, Delhi, Guwahati, Kolkata, Mumbai and Patna. There are no international routes. The 2,500 m runway handles aircraft such as the Airbus A320/A321 and Boeing 737, and since April 2025 night flights can be scheduled, such as the one to Delhi.

Services

Expect the facilities of a small, functional airport. Do not count on a wide choice of shops, restaurants or VIP lounges; if you need something specific, bring it with you or sort it out in town.

Tips

With so few flights a day, a cancellation or schedule change leaves few alternatives, so confirm your flight before heading to the airport. During festivals and pilgrimage seasons flights fill up, so book ahead. Keep your e-ticket and a photo ID handy to get through the entrance check.
