Itanagar Donyi Polo Hollongi Airport HGI

Donyi Polo Airport (Hollongi) is in Papum Pare district, about 14 km south of Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh. It is the state’s first greenfield airport: it was inaugurated in November 2022 and commercial flights began later that month. Its runway of roughly 2,300 m allows night operations and can be extended. In the 2025-26 fiscal year it handled about 200,000 passengers.

Terminals

There is a single small terminal, with arrivals and departures in the same building. There are no terminal changes or internal transfers to worry about.

Airlines and destinations

IndiGo and Alliance Air operate, with domestic flights only: large cities such as Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai, plus regional links within the northeast, such as Guwahati and Tezu. Routes change often, so confirm with your airline.

Services

This is a small airport with basic services. Do not expect a wide choice of shops or restaurants; it is wise to arrive with what you need and leave hotels and meals for Itanagar.

The airport is a gateway to Arunachal Pradesh, where flights are few and mountain roads are slow, so book with some margin and allow for the roughly 14 km trip to the city. Many visitors need a permit to enter the state, so check the requirements before you travel.
